2017 Motorcycle Adventure to Alaska (Day three)

I knew this morning was going to be a good one when I woke to the sunshine dancing on my camper roof. After two days of rain this was a welcome change indeed.
The night before I had passed these "falls" on my way back from a late dinner so I decided to swing by this morning and snap a photo. I think this is where Current River empties into Lake Superior.

Before leaving town I also wanted to find a spot with some decent wifi so I could get caught up on my "blogathon" which turned out to be a very frustrating waste of time. I have made up my mind when I return home to look into a new Mac Book. I'm realizing that this older model just can't keep up with what I'm asking of it.
Because the speed limit is only 90 km/h over the entire Trans Canada Highway from Parry Sound to the Manitoba border, it's hard to really make time. Fortunately the traffic on the roads was relatively light considering it was the huge Canada Day and July 4th holiday weekend.
One benefit to all the rain that we've had all spring and summer is the explosion of color along the roads from all the wild flowers.

Around noon I found this gorgeous and peaceful little rest stop and stopped for a snack of salami, cheese, almonds and some veggies left over from my "special lunch pack" from day one thanks to Penny Burns.

I was determined to reach Winnipeg by dinner even though I'd gotten off to a late start and had about 700 kms. to cover. Being Monday everyone was headed home after their weekend so traffic was getting quite heavy at times with tons of trucks and travel trailers slogging up the hills on this crazy but beautiful highway.
I also passed a time zone and picked up and hour so even though I made Winnipeg by 7:00, it was really 8:00 according to my body clock. I am still off my sleep aids after three days and all KOA's seem to be situated right beside busy highways so they are very noisy at night (actually all the time) which makes sleep even more challenging. Ear plugs seem to be the the best solution for now.
Below is a photo I took just outside Winnipeg. It's a field of of Safflower and is almost neon in colour. It also shows how the geography has changed now that I'm entering the prairies.

I finally figured out how to insert a video so hopefully this will add a little something extra to my future blog posts. Enjoy.
