Day Six

This was one of those crisp, sunny mornings and as I awoke I noticed with great appreciation the sunlight on the tent walls. No rain in the forecast. Today the God's are with me. My sister had sent me an email suggesting I visit an old friend from college days if I'm in the Moncton, NB area so I set my GPS and I was off. The sky was blue with great puffy popcorn clouds and it was a perfect day for a ride. Nothing against the French but it was nice to be greeted again by "Hello" instead of "Bonjour". I always felt inadequate that I only spoke English where many of the French speak English too.
The route that "Mr. Garmin" had chosen for me was along highways 8 and 11, which was very long, mostly straight, flat and boring but I had to remain extra alert because of all the signage that warned drivers about the dangers of hitting a moose.

I made it to my sister's friend's home by about 2:30 pm but nobody was home.

I had a couple of cold ones in the cooler so I peeled off all my gear and enjoyed a refreshing beer sitting on a rocking chair on their front porch as I waited for their return. An hour passed and then they appeared. They expected me and had gone into town for some groceries. Michael and Susan showed me around their gentleman's farm and then because they have 15 acres which back onto the Atlantic Ocean, Michael suggested a swim and a paddle in his canoe to really experience a slice of their life. Michael then picked fresh peas and dug up some potatoes from their garden and prepared a delicious meal along with some very fresh local seafood. Yummm! After dinner we shared some photos and then it was late and it was time for bed. All in all a perfect day.
