I was on the road by 10:00 am in Medicine Hat, AB and rode the 394 kms. in about 4 hours putting me in Canmore at 2:00 pm. It was another scorcher of a day so I was already looking forward to a cold one on bob's deck when I arrived. Fortunately there is a nice loop road that skirts the city of Calgary which saved me a lot of time. As I circled Calgary I would get these little glimpses of the distant Rocky mountains which was a pleasant change from the scenery of the past few days on the prairies.
When I was about 20 kms. west of the city I had to stop and get a photo. I never tire of the majestic beauty of nature and the mountains.
As I reached Canmore I had to stop again and take a photo. My biggest problem from this point forward is resisting the temptation to take so many pictures. This part of the world to me is so incredibly beautiful that I would never reach my destination if I stopped every time I saw a photo op.
As I mentioned, I arrived at Bob's place at two and in minutes we were out on his deck putting down a cold beer all the while talking about our crazy lives.
He apologized that he had a 3:00 pm commitment at the gym and after a quick tour of his lovely home he left me to work on my blog.
Here are a couple of shots taken from his bedroom. What an amazing space to live in with a million dollar view.
My plan is to wash my filthy bike, perhaps do some laundry and head out in the morning but I'm flexible and got the impression from Bob that another day would be fine with him.
Bob had been invited to a "Home Concert" at a close friend's place in town and asked me to join him. We had a little time to kill so we shared a bottle of wine and each had a small salad figuring there would be some munchies at the event.
Canmore is located in Bow Valley on the Bow River and is just this idyllic little town in the mountains.
This concert was a fund raiser to help the YWCA build a woman's shelter in Banff. Here are some video clips of the fabulous home and the entertainment
I took the opportunity to go out on the deck and pan the valley. Enjoy.
When we got back to Bob's place we sat up till 2:30 am just talking, laughing and just sharing our life experiences.
