2016 Motorcycle Adventures (DAY Twenty Nine)

The change in the time zone messed me up this morning. I have been waking up at 6:30 but today it was 7:30 central time. Even still, I had showered, eaten, packed up and on the road by 9:00 am. There were several motorcycles in the campground all headed to Sturgis and most of them had left by the time I was ready to go.
Just next to me was a young lady traveling alone from Quebec. I asked her if she might take my photograph as I have been absent from most of the recent ones. Here is a sample of her work.

The destination today was Oakdale, Wisconsin. The weather was perfect, much cooler than past days but there was a fair wind out of the southeast which made the ride a little less pleasant. The sky was full of those huge puffy, popcorn clouds, the kind as kids you'd lie on the grass looking up and imagine all sorts of different shapes.
Minnesota is fairly flat and windy which explains why there are hundreds of these massive wind turbines.

Around noon I pulled off to have a light snack and noticed these Texas Longhorn Steers. They almost seemed irritated by their huge horns because they would shake their head from side to side as they walked.

By the time I had reached Oakdale I had ridden 687 kms. (426 miles) and had way too much saddle time. I have noticed as I ride east that I see fewer and fewer motorcycles heading west to Sturgis and my campground was half empty and there were no other bikes.
I love this spot. No noisy campers nearby. No trains. Lots of trees for shade. Tomorrow I cross into Canada at Sault Ste. Marie. It's still a good days ride from there back home but I won't do anything crazy and try to make it all the way. I will be sleeping in my own bed by Wednesday evening. Can't wait.
