It was yet another sun filled day in the land of "fruits and nuts". We had planned to take a ride to Venus Beach and have some breakfast and do some people watching but then he thought it might be more fun to ride up the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) to Malibu and have some brunch.
I wanted to ride my own bike again so I unhooked the trailer and we headed out to the PCH. Traffic wasn't too bad and since rush hour was over we had a great ride.
Giacomo had done this before so he took me to the Paradise Cove Beach Cafe. Once we got next to the water the air temperature dropped to a more comfortable level. We bought a couple of Corona's and found a pair of Muskoka chairs on the beach and just relaxed and watched the surf role in. Great spot.
It was noon already and neither one of us had eaten so we went back into the cafe and they gave us a nice shaded booth outside surrounded by surf boards for privacy and wind protection. Giacomo ordered the ribs and I went for the fish and chips and another Corona of course.
The food was excellent but the portions were enormous. My meal could have fed two and I couldn't finish it all.
I am so grateful that Giacomo and I have had this time to talk about our lives and get to know each other better. He has a very envious life and has totally embraced the California lifestyle.
After lunch we took off down the PCH to Hollywood and his apartment. By this time the day was warming up into the 90's and I remembered to check my cooler to see how the ice situation was. All the ice had melted and there was one lonely lime bobbing around in three inches of very cold water. I rode to the local Seven Eleven and picked up two bags of ice, filled the cooler, parked the bike and went straight for the air conditioned apartment.
Over the past couple of days I have had numerous photographs taken of me and it gave me the opportunity to see me as others do. I used to think the beard was cool but now I have decided that it just makes me look older. It might also have something to do with the fact that I'm hanging with two gorgeous young people, Giacomo and Nicole. So, I just shaved it off and for now I really prefer the look.
It's not the best photo but I had to show you that I actually did shave this afternoon.
Giacomo and I were pretty tired after our ride and the ginormous lunch so he lay down for a nap and I worked on my blog, did some laundry and read a few chapters on my Kindle. By supper time neither one of us had any desire to eat so instead we flipped on his Netflix and watched a movie together. When it was over he took off to Nicole's place so I would have a proper bed and I finished my blog and hit the sack. Tomorrow I will ride up the famous California coastal road, highway 101, and look for a camp ground just north of the San Francisco area.
