This was the day that I had to say goodbye to Brian and Ken and I was not at all looking forward to it. I have a feeling that we will see each other again soon. We had our breakfast and packed up and I got the sense that they were feeling a bit sad about having to split up too. We're guys so no tears of course but we had developed a kind of bond over the past three days and I will miss these two.
The morning was cool but there wasn't a cloud in the sky. My destination today was the KOA on Grand Island in the Niagara River. Being a Friday the traffic was a little heavier along the route but it was good fun rocking through the winding hill country of upper Pennsylvania and New York states. I arrived in Niagara Falls around 4:30 pm and was happy to find that they still had a tent site available just before the weekend. I set up my camper, which was right next to an amusement park and the giant roller coaster. I was a bit concerned about the noise but the camp ground staff told me it shuts down at 8:00 pm. In this photo you can see it in the background.
I decided tonight that I would treat myself and disconnect the bike from my camper, go into town and have a restaurant meal. Sitting there I couldn't help thinking just how nice it had been to have someone to talk to and share with at the end of the day.
Back at camp I decided to shower and shave to save some time in the morning. I covered the bike, climbed into bed, read for awhile and then it was lights out.
