I had read about a Saturday morning Farmer's Market in Summerside so I checked it out. There was lots of fresh local produce but some crafts, baked goods and little nick knacks too. I was in and out and by now the sun was out. Happy days.
Because I need my camera and rain suit and have no storage on the bike I have been dragging around my trailer so I bought a back pack for tomorrow so I could tour more of the island without the trailer.
The scenery is very beautiful especially along the water, mainly rolling hills with lots of potato's, corn, hay and oats being grown. There are lots of trees too and it's plain that many folks here heat with wood as evidenced by the many large stacks of firewood.
To keep my blog alive I have to take my iPad to the local McDonald's each day. I am increasingly appalled by the morbid obesity that is so common here especially with women for some reason. I sometimes almost feel like some alien walking amongst them. Here you don't see the joggers and bicyclists that I see so many other places. It's just sad.
Today I wanted to get up to the north central shore and see Cavendish Beach where our family had camped back in the 50's. Here is just one of the gorgeous rural scenes that are everywhere.
Originally I planned to leave the island on Sunday but I am holding off till Monday. I'm thinking of taking the ferry which is on the southeast shore and puts me just that much closer to the Cabot Trail.
Tonight will be another quiet one with a great story called "The Witness" by Sandra Brown, one of my favourite authors.
the ferry is a good choice.....I took it as well
