Day Eleven

Another very windy day but very sunny too. I had purchased a back pac yesterday because I was tired of dragging around my camper trailer and now I could leave it behind and just bring my camera and rain suit.
John Bowker, whose cottage I'm staying in, had suggested I check out Basin Head before leaving the island so off I went to explore the eastern end of PEI.
My first stop was in the town of Souris which is a port on the SE shore and as such has another one of those old light houses.

Beside the light house was a small pile of red dirt which someone had sculpted into a face.

The red dirt of PEI is as famous as their potato's. It stains everything it touches. A thriving business has developed making what they call "Dirt Shirts" which are made by soaking any white shirt in a mud puddle or bucket of dirt and water.
Here is a shot of the sea cliffs and the famous red dirt.

My next stop was Basin Head. I don't know what I expected but it sure wasn't a gorgeous sandy beach covered in bathers.

My last stop of the day was out on the extreme eastend of the island, East Point, and you'll never guess what I found there.
