The weather was sunny and breezy which is pretty typical for this time of year. PEI can be accessed since 1997 by ferry and now by the new Confederate Bridge. The bridge is 13 kms. or 9 miles long, took four years to build and was completed in 1997 linking PEI to the New Brunswick coast. It is considered one of Canada's greatest marine engineering feats.
When I got to the island I stopped, took some photos and decided to have a nice fish and chip feed at one of the many eateries built around the bridge entrance.
A friend of a friend back home had generously offered the use of his cabin on thee island just outside Summerside.
Never having been there before I got lost and my GPS couldn't recognize the address either. Thankfully my iPhone Maps program saved the day and I finally found the place.
The last couple of days and long nights really took their toll on me and I realized that I was just plain exhausted. It was great to unpack and know that I could just "veg out" for a couple of days and explore this relatively small island at my own pace.
The cabin is small but very comfortable, no TV or internet. It will be an early night tonight. The clouds rolled in this afternoon and it's threatening rain. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what tomorrow brings.
