2017 Motorcycle Adventure to Alaska (Day nineteen)

Have you ever woken up, glanced at the time and thought, damn I slept in again, only to realize after you're all dressed and ready to go that it's actually two hours earlier than you thought? That's what happened this morning and that's why I was on the road at 8:15am.
It turned out to be a good thing because I was planning on laying down some miles today, possibly as far as Fort Nelson, BC.
The weather is something I take a keen interest in because you're so exposed on a motorcycle. The first hour or so was cold but sunny. My heated jacket liner came in very handy and made the ride very comfortable. Next came the rain which lasted on and off for a couple of hours.
I was keeping an eye on my gas guage which was hovering around empty. I have always made it to a gas station in the past but I hadn't seen one for the past 100 miles. When the fuel light came on I decided to stop and dump in some fuel from my emergency gas can. I reset the odometer to see how far I was away from the nearest gas station when I finally found one. All this drama was for nothing because I pulled into a station only 14 kms. later which I could have made with the fuel light on. Better safe than sorry I suppose.
Here's a sign you don't see very often.

Ten minutes later I spotted this big guy just rolling around in a little patch of dirt by the side of the road.

By mid afternoon I was getting pretty tired and realized that I wouldn't make Fort Nelson. Besides that I was driving straight into a huge storm so I spotted an RV Park in the town of Mold Creek, BC and decided to quit for the day.
The roads are much better now which helps a lot and there is a lot fewer construction delays. Tomorrow I hope to make it to Dawson Creek which is the start of the Alaska Highway and then on to Edmonton on Friday.
