Today turned into a bit of a grind. The heat by mid morning was already in the mid nineties. It was Sunday morning on I-15 which takes you straight to San Diego if you ride to the end. It's the prime artery that delivers people between Las Vegas and LA/San Diego so everyone is heading south to LA and beyond. The traffic was moving along quite well most of the way but it was just the sheer volume of cars that slowed things down periodically.
Crossing the Mojave Desert was much hotter and not many gas stations. I chose to not take pictures because the scenery was just a lot of dry dusty desert, no trees and just a lot of small shrubs, sand and rock to look at.
I made it to LA and headed for my good friend, Duncan Williams, an old Honda buddy. He lives in a large camper trailer so I just set up next door which creates an instant guest room. Kelly, his girlfriend, came over to meet me and stayed for dinner. They are great hosts whenever I visit. We did a little catching up and while Duncan worked on dinner Kelly gave me a hand washing the miles of dirt off the bike.
As I've said before, it's the people you meet and interact with that enhances the whole experience. I had mentioned before the chronic pain below my left shoulder blade so they got me set up for a massage that a friend does. Right now I think the ergonomics on the bike may be wrong for me and I may have to play with the handlebar position to see if it helps. Right now I would love to get some relief since I'm still only halfway through my planned trip. I will let you know tomorrow if there's any improvement after my treatment.
Here are the few photos I took once I got to LA.
