EAST COAST USA (DAY EIGHT)

It's Saturday morning and today I'm going to see Erin in New York today. It's been since last Christmas and I'm very excited. I woke up around 6:00 am so I could get breakfast done, pack things up and be on the rode by 8:30. The sun was already blasting down on me from the east and I knew it was going to be another scorcher. What was strange this time was all the earwigs, caterpillars and spiders that had decided to make homes of every little hiding spot on the "outside" of the tent. I was literally brushing them off as I was folding up the camper.
I had agreed to arrive at 11:30 am which coincided with Erin's yoga class being over. I still had almost a three hour journey to Brooklyn so I hit the old I-95 slab and only stopped once for gas. One of my biggest concerns was riding a motorcycle and trailer through the congested city streets of New York and then having to find a parking spot on the street that wasn't miles from Erin's apartment. Miracle of miracles. I drove right to her street without incident and found a perfect parking spot only a half block away.

I unpacked clothes and a few perishables from my cooler, locked and covered the bike and walked the half block to Erin's apartment. As it turned out she had canceled her yoga class so she was there waiting for me.
It was wonderful seeing her again. Being a very warm day I changed out of my riding gear into some shorts and my trusty "crocks" and off we went to the local farmer's market at the park nearby. Erin's place is so perfectly situated that everything is within easy walking distance.

There's always so much going on outside on the streets and today we watched a street performer who was jamming out some bad ass blues. What was remarkable was the fact that he was singing, playing guitar, harmonica all while keeping the beat with a foot operated tambourine.

We were both getting hungry so Erin suggested a little french restaurant called "Ici" (French for the word "here"). On our walk to lunch we passed two of the cutest little girls selling lemonade and miniature chocolate covered donuts. I had to take a picture.

We had a delicious lunch and a nice cold beer before heading to the huge Saturday Brooklyn Flea Market. Lots of crazy stuff for sale and interesting people to watch. Erin has a one bedroom apartment so in the past I usually brought an air bed to sleep on so we walked down to the Target store and purchased a new queen sized deluxe air mattress.
The afternoon was slipping away and we decided to take in a 7:00 pm movie, Love & Mercy, starring  John Cusack about the tragic life of Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys. We'd had a late lunch so we topped up before the show with drinks and hors d'oeuvres at Erin's place.
The movie was somewhat dark but it revealed some things about the Beach Boys that I otherwise would never have known. I would recommend seeing the movie.
By 9:00 pm the movie was over and we walked back to the apartment, had some nibblies and a drink and went to bed.
