EAST COAST USA 2015 (DAY TWO)

Again I awoke to glorious sunshine and the promise of another beautiful day for adventure.  I decided   to forgo preparing breakfast and munched on a couple of breakfast bars and an orange that were left over from Penny's lunch pack. I figured I'd stop for coffee somewhere down the road at my morning gas stop.
By 9:00 I already had 50 miles (I'm in the USA so it's miles instead of Kms.) on the odometer. I had picked a way point that should have put me at the foot of Lake Champlain on the eastern border of New York state. From there my plan was to cross over into Vermont and scoot across the state to New Hampshire. Well, unfortunately my GPS decided to take a different route and by mid afternoon I found myself at the top of Lake Champlain and only a dozen miles from the Quebec border and totally lost. I saw a sign for the bridge to Vermont so once across the bridge I headed to the nearest visitor centre to get some help with my directions.

I had probably gone 100 miles or more out of my way so I felt rather foolish. For what it's worth I wish to point out to all the women reading this that I actually stopped to ask for directions. Amazing!!!
I may have lost some time but I sure had a very interesting tour of up state New York. Being the 4th and traveling through dozens of small towns and villages, there were American flags everywhere you looked, baseball games, families enjoying barbecues and tons of other bikers.

Being Sunday too it seemed like every resident of some of these tiny villages was in attendance because their parking lots were full and there wasn't a soul on the street.
There were more cars on the road today but I never once had to slow down for any traffic because there just wasn't any.
Around five I stopped at a grocery store and picked up some ice for my cooler, rice, a filet of cod for dinner, some tonic and grapefruits for breakfast.
I had hoped to make it to Bartlett, New Hampshire  but because I lost so much time  today I only  made it to Lisbon, NH..
I found a very cool KOA camp ground right beside a river up in the mountains.

Much of the  weekend  crowd has headed home now so there are lots of empty camp sites available. It's also much quieter. I prepared my dinner, got this blog all caught up and now I can relax, read my book and turn for the night.
