ROUTE 66 (DAY 2)

It's Friday the 27th of June and I'm still feeling the vestiges of our late night. My original plan was to   climb back on my iron horse and push on to Chicago and the birth place of the historic Route 66. That plan will have to wait because if I'm ever going to find my way I'm going to have to fix my GPS unit. Rick prepared an amazing omelet for breakfast that we enjoyed out on their lovely deck surrounded by massive Maple and Oak trees and the familiar sound of birds as they frolicked in the branches.
Afterwards I got on the phone to Garmin, the GPS manufacturer, to try and resolve the problem. Rick is an accomplished engineer but his home computer still uses the almost obsolete XP operating system so the Garmin Support staff had their work cut out for them to help me. Long story short, after nearly three hours of fixing and loading new maps my GPS had the latest map files loaded for all of North America. Garmin told me that the problem is the incredibly slow download speed at my home which caused the issue in the first place. They advised me to find a fast connection before I ever update my maps in the future.
It's now 1:30pm so I decide to bag my trip for the day and leave on Saturday morning. This worked out just fine because I got to spend another day with my old friends.
Rick and Candy were flying out to Oregon on an 8:30am flight the next morning so we all hit the sack early Friday night. It was a great visit despite all the delays.
Here is a shot of my bike and trailer parked in their driveway. I will be taking many more photos because the pics really help the blog.
